Thanks to everyone who joined Anthony, Holly, and Andreia for our latest session. We know that as mission-driven organisations, you want your marketing to grow your business while also proving your impact.

If you missed the live session, we broke down exactly how to audit your past performance and build a stress-free strategy for the year ahead. Here are the key takeaways from the session:

1. Audit Your 2025: Vanity vs. Impact

Before planning for 2026, you need to understand what worked in 2025. We discussed why analysing your performance is crucial for optimising budgets and understanding customer behaviour.

  • Move beyond vanity: We encouraged you to stop focusing solely on "vanity metrics" like likes or followers and start measuring "impact metrics" that actually drive your mission—such as sales, donations, signups, and applications.

  • The Funnel approach: We suggested breaking your metrics down into three key stages: Awareness, Engagement, and Conversion to see exactly where your customers are in their journey.

  • Tools: We covered how to use free tools like Meta Business Suite, MailChimp, and Google Analytics (GA4) to get the data you need.

2. The Secret Sauce: Content Pillars

To solve the problem of the "blank page" and ensure consistency, we introduced the concept of Content Pillars. Think of these as the main plotlines of a TV series, with your individual posts being the episodes.

We recommended using the EEII Framework to keep your content balanced:

  • Educate: Empower your audience with how-to guides, myth-busting videos, and webinars.

  • Entertain: Humanise your brand with behind-the-scenes content, challenges, and "good news" roundups.

  • Inspire: Share impact stories and spotlight others in the sector to demonstrate your commitment to change.

  • Inform: Keep your audience in the loop with product updates, impact reports, and "meet the team" posts.

3. Planning for 2026

Finally, we looked at how to pull this all together into a cohesive plan for the new year.

  • Test and Learn: We view marketing as an end-to-end process: Objectives > Funnel > Tactics > Pillars > Metrics.

  • SMART Goals: We stressed the importance of setting goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timed—for example, aiming for "4 new enquiries in Q1" rather than just "more sales".

  • Map the Journey: We showed how to map your tactics to the funnel—using paid ads to generate awareness, organic social and email to build consideration, and webinars to drive conversions.
